Equipment availability: Q4 2012
FEI is proud to announce the addition of the new Milltronics RH33 Rigid Head Toolroom Bed Mill. With travels of 78″ X 33″ X 28″ (x,y & z) — a machining window that is larger than most.
Larger capacity, fewer set-ups equals more cost effective. The RH33 is a massive rigid way frame machine with a 70 mm spindle.
With 78″ x 30″ travels and weighing over 15,000 pounds, this machine will handle the toughest job. Work piece maximum weight of 3,500 pounds, big jobs anyone?
About Mills
Our new RH33 is a milling machine tool used to machine solid materials. It can perform a vast number of operations, from simple to complex. Unlike a drill press, which holds the workpiece stationary as the drill moves axially to penetrate the material, milling machines also move the workpiece radially against the rotating milling cutter, which cuts on its sides as well as its tip. Workpiece and cutter movement are precisely controlled to less than 0.001 in (0.025 mm). Milling machines may be manually operated, mechanically automated, or digitally automated via computer numerical control. The RH33 is a bed mill which refers to any milling machine where the spindle is on a pendant that moves up and down to move the cutter into the work, while the table sits on a stout bed that rests on the floor. These are generally more rigid than a knee mill. [1]
