The Cream Bottling Line begins with operators manually loading the rotary table with empty bottles. The bottles form a single-file line as they enter the conveyor. The open-frame style conveyor is outfitted with clean-in-place (CIP) technology minimizing washdown operations.
The volumetric filling system ensures the correct amount of product is dispensed. This is verified by sensors which detect each bottle leaving the filling system and check the height of the product in the bottle. The system operates at a rate of roughly 36 bottles per minute (2200 / hour).
A feeder bowl orientates the caps before sliding down a set of rails. Caps are applied to each bottle and another sensor ensures a cap is ready for each bottle as they approach. After the cap is applied, additional sensors verify the presence of the cap.
The cap tightener systems screws the caps on and ensures no cross-threading occurs. The bottles pass under an inductive sealing machine which seals the under-cap foil to the bottle. The bottles pass in-front of a ink jet machine which applies the ‘best by’ date.
A labeler then wraps the labels to each bottle before they enter an accumulation rotary table and are manually packaged into boxes and palletized.
Faith Engineering, Inc (FEI) designed and built the volumetric filling system along with the washdown/CIP conveyor system. The rotary tables, cap tightener, cap sealer and bottle labeler were integrated by FEI to create the entire production line.
