Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates manual CNC Vertical & Horizontal Machine Center.
- Must have proven skill set to set up and operate Vertical 3 axis and Horizontal 4 & 5 axis machine centers.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to understand center line rotation of fixtures as applied to Horizontal Machine set up.
- Must be versed in Rotary or Indexing capability as the application applies to the Horizontal Machine Center.
- Understand Z axis and Y axis clearance and tool statements to the Horizontal Machine Center.
- Employee will need t understand the Vertical X,Y,Z axis centerline pick up with the Vertical Machine center.
- Good understanding of Edge and Centerline pick up on the Vertical Machine Center.
- Optimize process to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Save updated programs.
- Receive daily instructions from Production Supervisor and plan day accordingly using the Shop Floor Control System.
- Clock in and off operations according to sequence number start date of the work order.
- Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper gauges.
- Perform daily maintenance check on machines and report concerns to Production Supervisor.
- Use proper feed and speed for maximum efficiency.
- Deburr work in process.
- Train new hires or apprentices.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures.
- Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
- Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled.
Qualifications
- Must own tools supply for daily tasks (i.e. micrometers, indicators, edge finders, etc.)
- Must be able to grind cutting tools, read and interpret blueprints and work order instructions.
- Must be able to understand three and four axis machining.
- Must be able to understand the picking up of a center line of a horizontal table.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers.
- Must be able to take verbal and written instructions and work from handmade sketches.
- Demonsrated knowledge of G-Code programming and Horizontal machine practices.
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and communication skills.
Education / Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical training with a two year technical diploma.
- Preferably a Journeyman’s card/Four year apprenticeship program or it’s equivalency in progressively responsible related experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans, blueprints, drawings, models, procedure manuals, production schedules, and safety rules.
- Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and simple algebraic equations.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment which may be exposure to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
